Telehealth – what is it?

Telehealth connects you with health care providers, without the need for travelling to our facility. This will reduce your time, costs and stress associated with travelling to an appointment.

A telehealth appointment is just like a normal appointment; only the health care provider you will be seeing and speaking with is on a phone, monitor or TV screen. You will be able to see, hear and talk to them as if they were in the same room as you.

What are the advantages for you?

Every person’s situation is different but, in general, the benefits of this service include:

  • better access to care
  • reduced waiting time for your appointment
  • reduced travel time and costs
  • increased communication with your health care providers.

A telehealth appointment will only be made if it is appropriate for your circumstances and does not compromise your treatment.

Privacy

As always, your privacy is our priority.  This remains the case during telehealth appointments and just like a usual appointment; your telehealth appointment will be private and confidential.

Before we make a telehealth appointment for you, we will ask you some questions to find out whether this would be something that would suit your individual circumstance.

What to expect

Prior to your appointment, you will receive an email reminder, or simply login to view your appointments.

When you have your telehealth appointment, please be prepared by being seated in a quiet place with pen and paper, and have any questions prepared.

Fees

Any fees associated with your telehealth appointment apply as they would for a face-to-face appointment.  We will discuss any fees with you when we make your appointment.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Telehealth requires a lot of coordination, so please try to keep your appointment. If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible.

Support with resources and technology

If you need help with joining your telehealth appointment, please let your health care provider know so they can allow more time to assist you with connecting.
